Survival Purpose
The Estwing wood axe is high rated for it's all-steel strength, superior balance, and effcient axe head shape.. It's a pretty efficient tool. Swinging it is a natural experience. The Estwing axe is the perfect combo of weight, balance, and efficiency. The steel is the well known 1055 steel.
We recommend adding this tool to a Stage 4 survival support tools for situations where you are relocating with a vehicle. In an emergency it would help with fire duties, shelter making, close up defense, and more. For the price, the value is fantastic!
This tool can tackle many of the survival priorities. It can help you build shelter, prepare food, administer first aid, prepare fuel for burning, cut cordage, and so much more. It's just the right size to keep its weight minimized while providing the best function.
What's Included
- Light weight axe
- Heavy duty ballistic nylon sheath
What We Like
- Weight - The axe weighs around 5 pounds, which is a small tradeoff for the utility.
- Blade - We found the blade shape to be very efficient - each swing can be carefully placed and split wood.
- Balance - Since the handle is very light, all of the weight is lifted high above the head and when swung, the leverage is very advantageous.
Tips and Recommendations
- Use as intended - while the multi-tool is sturdy, use it wisely. The blade works great as a hatchet but not so well as a lever.
- Bad swings - be careful to not strike the ground or other unintended objects.
- Dry wood - focus your efforts on dry wood whenever possible.
